Happy Birthday to transgender activist and movement leader Janet Mock and Civil Rights leader Bayard Rustin!

Here are quotes from these leaders to engage us in reflection:

"I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act. It is an act that can be met with hostility, exclusion, and violence. It can also lead to love, understanding, transcendence, and community. I hope that my being real with you will help empower you to step into who you are and encourage you to share yourself with those around you." ~Janet Mock (March 10, 1983 - )

"If we desire a society without discrimination, then we must not discriminate against anyone in the process of building this society. If we desire a society that is democratic, then democracy must become a means as well as an end." ~Bayard Rustin (March 17, 1910 - August 24, 1987)

Each month we have a different topic to help diversify our collection. Of course we still accept books or videos of all LGBTQIAP topics, but each month focuses on an area we are looking to grow. So as you browse book/movie stores, keep us in mind. Click HERE for our Book Drive Wishlist!
